A Midsummer Night's Dream
A Midsummer Night's Dream
It is night in an enchanted forest. Titania and Oberon, Queen and King of the Fairies are arguing over a changeling child who they both wish to keep as a page.

Also in the forest are two pairs of human lovers. Hermia and Lysander are happy in love and are eloping. Demetrius also desires Hermia, but used to love Helena, who is very unhappy as a result.

Observing the mortals, Oberon is moved by Helena’s distress and tells his sprite Puck to use a magic flower to charm Demetrius back into loving Helena. The flower has the power to make a person fall in love with the first person they see upon waking.

Puck mistakes the two human men and anoints Lysander instead of Demetrius and upon waking, Lysander sees Helena so now is in love with her, much to Hermia’s distress. Oberon tries to fix the situation by anointing Demetrius with the flower, but he too sees Helena first so that both men are now in love with Helena.

Meanwhile a group of hapless actors are practicing a play in the woods. Oberon, wanting to teach Titania a lesson transforms one of the actors, Bottom, into an ass. Oberon arranges to have Puck anoint Titania with the flower and fall in love with the ass.

Finally, all is made right with the four human lovers , Bottom is returned to his human form and reunited with his friends. Titania is embarrassed about her indiscretion with the ass and gives up the changeling child to Oberon. The fairies dance joyfully in the moonlight with their king and queen happily reunited.
